The Royal Show - Schools - The Education Trail
THE EDUCATION TRAIL
Around 10,000 school children are expected to make the annual visit to the Royal
Show at Stoneleigh, and will be given the opportunity to explore the work of
those living in the countryside, how food is produced and the leisure activities
available in the great outdoors.
There will be themed trails, which will provide opportunities to find out more about the work of those living in the countryside, how food is produced and what leisure activities there are in the great outdoors. The trails will follow themes such as healthy living and signpost young explorers to exhibitors who have expressed a willingness to welcome children: these cover all aspects of the food chain from meeting livestock through to sampling cheese.
The Education Village in 2008 was sponsored by the HGCA, Asda, Sainsbury’s Waitrose and The Co-operative.
The Education Trail at the Royal Show 2009 will support the legacy of last year’s Year of Food and Farming, by continuing to bring education and farming closer together.
Feedback from teachers who brought groups last year agreed that it was a very worthwhile experience saying, "We're an inner city school and our students loved it all – it’s a brilliant experience for them! Please invite us again" and "This was a most inspiring activity, thank you".
